Organization
Staff and Teachers
The Bitney College Prep staff is a small and cohesive
group. All teachers and administrators encourage communication
from the parents and students. For contact information for
each of the teachers (and a list of classes each teaches), go to the Staff
Directory. We also have a Staff Biographies page showcasing each faculty member's education and interests.
Administration
Principal Bruce Herring is responsible for all day-to-day
administrative, financial and disciplinary decisions as well
as ensuring the school is adhering to all legal parameters.
The Principal reports directly to the Charter
Council (attending all monthly and special meetings),
attends faculty meetings and is responsive to both the Parent
Council and Student
Council, and to individual parents and students.
Charter Council
The Bitney College Prep Charter
Council is the governing body for the High School. The
Council normally meets first Monday of each month. See the
school calendar for details. Meetings are open to the public,
and the agenda is posted at least 48 hours before each regular
meeting. Minutes from Charter Council meetings are available
at the school office.
Parent Council
The Parent Council is a vital support group for Bitney Prep. Meetings are held the third Thursday of every month. By taking an active role, parents make the most of the opportunity to be involved in their childrens’ education. As a parent, you can make a real difference in the life of the school.
Student Government
Without the Student Government there is no validity to the school organization. Unlike the average high school, the students at Bitney College Prep have an actual say in the future of the school. Without their input, there'd be no school at all.
Alumni Outreach
Your connection with the school doesn't end when you graduate. Our Alumni Outreach Program helps to keep our graduates connected.
School District
Founded in 1998 by the Bitney Springs Charter Council, this
tuition-free charter school now falls under the jurisdiction of
the Nevada
County Superintendent of Schools.
